Nicholas Reti

A Nicholas Reti painting is all about being there. Whether it’s the hush of a glowing winter sunrise high in the mountains or the joy of walking a Crested Butte back alley, Reti generously composes his experiences on canvas in color and light. His paintings have received numerous awards including a Merit Award at Salon International 2010 and recognition as one of Southwest Art magazine’s ’21 under 31 and Artists to Watch.’

Before graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2001, Nicholas Reti honed his talents in Paris and Florence. Two years later he returned to Colorado to photograph and paint the mountain vistas that dominate his compositions. Photography has always played an important role in Reti’s career. His paintings often utilize a combination of plein-air, photo references, and time in the studio. Reti challenges his brush with a broad range of subjects from intimate scenes of mountain life to expansive views of the Rocky Mountains.

Reti lives and paints in Crested Butte, Colorado. A lifetime love for traveling has taken him to countries including Egypt, Italy, France, Botswana and South Africa. He returns often to Italy, Oregon, and the island of Molokai’i.
