Robert Hagberg
Robert’s resume is a winding path. The foundation for his art career was laid at a young age and grew with the aid of a wonderful high school teacher in a great art program. The curves in his life, though, took him in a different direction. After college and graduate school Robert spent ten years in the field of human services. Needing a change, he returned to school followed by a fourteen year career in the film and video business, freelancing as a lighting and camera specialist.
The allure of art finally caught up with Robert in 1992 when, with the blessing of his wife, he began moving towards making painting a full time endeavor. During the following years Robert has studied under artists Jim Wilcox, Wm. Scott Jennings, Scott Christensen and Michael Albrechtsen. Under the influence of these artists and others Robert’s work has evolved from what was once photo realism to a style that could be characterized as a “painterly” approach to realism.
Robert is currently a signature member of Oil Painters of America, and a member of Rocky Mountain Plein Aire Painters. His work has earned many awards including First Place in landscape from Artist Magazine, Award of Merit from Salon International, and the Key Bank Award at the Acadia Invitational.
