The country’s premier Western art show, the Masters of the American West Art Exhibition and Sale features paintings and sculptures by 64 contemporary, nationally recognized artists. New artists for the 2019 Masters include Eric Bowman, G. Russell Case, and Howard Post, as well as returning artists Nicholas Coleman, Dennis Doheny, and Tim Solliday. Proceeds from Masters support the Autry’s many educational and community outreach programs.
Oh Be Joyful Gallery is proud to represent works by Masters of the American West California artist Eric Merrell. You can see all of Eric’s gallery inventory here.
An innovative artist with an eye keen for simplification of shape, Merrell continues to follow his own course, creating work that is rooted in and inspired by our contemporary world but not bound by formula or category. His paintings are noted for their distinctive aesthetics and use of color, which are common threads throughout the work—whether depicting an urban metropolis, a portrait, or solitude in the vast desert night, they stand apart.
Ever-drawn to the desert landscape, Eric was recently named a 2019 Artist-in-Residence by the Mojave National Preserve Artists Foundation.
