Join us for a stunning group exhibition featuring the paintings of William Alther, Dan Schultz, and Stacey Peterson!

William Alther

William Alther grew up in West Texas, where he developed an interest in both art and the natural world at an early age. A degree in wildlife biology from Texas A&M University eventually led to a position in the zoology department at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science for 13 years. Throughout, he was an active artist and in 2004 began painting full-time. He is endlessly fascinated by the landscape and the creatures that live there.

“I do enjoy painting other things but animals and landscapes just seem to dominate my attention. Perhaps the best part is the field work. Whether it’s getting outside for a couple of hours or going on extended trips, I thoroughly enjoy the exploring, observation, photography, sketching, and outdoor painting that are essential parts of the process to produce paintings.”

William participates in several prominent national shows each year in addition to his association with several established and respected galleries. His work is in the permanent collection of the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and many private collections. He lives in Denver, Colorado, with his wife, Debbie.

Dan Schultz

California-based artist Dan Schultz has chosen to build upon the historical tradition of representational fine art. With a background in commercial art, he has taken influence from many of the golden-age illustrators as well as from classical realism and impressionism. He believes that beauty is of great importance to the human soul and that God uses the beauty of his creation to communicate with humanity. “If art is a vehicle for this communication, then my role as an artist is truly humbling,” says Schultz.

His landscape and figure paintings have received national recognition from Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine and Southwest Art Magazine, and awards from the American Impressionist Society, the California Art Club, the Oil Painters of America, the Art Renewal Center and the Portrait Society of America. Viewers often comment on the strong sense of light and atmosphere in his work, as well as the beauty of his subtle color changes which become apparent upon closer inspection. Look for delicate color shifts, small accent touches and textural changes which are not always apparent from a distance.

Stacey Peterson

Stacey Peterson was born in 1978 and raised in Littleton, Colorado. Growing up at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, Stacey developed a love for the outdoors that influences her artwork today.

While Peterson’s professional background is in the field of environmental engineering, she has always been interested in drawing and painting. She took up oil painting after graduating from college, concentrating on portraiture at first and then turning her focus to the landscape. An avid backpacker, hiker, and mountain biker, Peterson draws upon her time outdoors to provide the inspiration for her oil paintings. She often works on location, and uses her plein air studies as reference for studio works that typically depict locations in the wilderness areas of Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West.

Stacey is an award-winning painter, most recently honored with awards at the 2013 Oil Painters of America Western Regional, 2012 Salon International and 2012 Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters national show. She was featured as one of Southwest Art Magazine’s “21 Under 31” in 2006, and has also had her work published in American Artist Magazine.

Primarily a self-taught artist, Stacey’s art education includes coursework at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, and workshops with nationally recognized painters Dan Young, Jay Moore, and John David Phillips. By way of formal education, Stacey holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Science from the Colorado School of Mines.
