This image was also taken as the expedition headed north through Gothic valley over what is known today as Schofield Pass. Notice the mule standing in the lower right foreground, mules were used to transport all of the expeditions belongings from camp to camp. You can see the East River on the valley floor, this is roughly where the forest service road crosses the river today.
