why this place?
The Gunnison Valley that we call home has a 170+ year history of captivating artists from around the globe. From the native Ute tribes, to the first USGS Surveys, and from the advent of the mining days, to the town's first Crested Butte Arts Festival back in 1971, art is no stranger here. Currently, 10% of Buttians make their living in the arts - not a bad number for a small town of only 1500!
For us, the draw is simple - pure, untrammeled living. Here, creativity thrives, and there is no shortage of inspiration in each and every direction. Surrounded by peaks towering up to 14,000 feet, you only need step outside and let your heart pull you any direction. A snowy peak here, a field of wildflowers there, the world's largest grove of aspen, and the wildlife around every corner make Crested Butte feel like magic.
What is an art gallery?
An art gallery, to us, is so much more than just walls full of art. We see our gallery as an opportunity to do good in the world. Always striving to spread beauty and inspiration, we welcome anyone coming through our doors - whether to look, buy, or just find an invigoration for art to take back home to their own easel.
This gallery operates as a vehicle for allowing creativity to flow through us, and out into our supportive community of patrons, visitors, artists, and beyond. We are constantly striving to give creatives the chance to join us for exhibitions, horse pack painting trips, film screenings, backpack trips, garden tours, painting workshops, and more, and we always welcome new and exciting ideas. In a world that’s constantly telling people what they can’t do, we’re here to find the limits of what’s possible with a small business tucked away in the mountains.

"One of my favorite galleries for Colorado art. Hard not to walk out with a new acquisition. They represent many talented artists with price points for everyone."

CBS Sunday Morning Features Crested butte & gallery owner nicholas reti
It was a special day when gallery owner Nicholas Reti got to take Mo Rocca, CBS correspondent, humorist, journalist, and more, on a painting excursion in the mountains surrounding Crested Butte to capture the landscape on canvas, and talk about one of his favorite things - wildflower season. Reti was the 2022 Crested Butte Wildflower Festival poster artist - a local honor coveted by many.
Let this video take you on a journey in the Wildflower Capitol of Colorado. Enjoy a sampling of the stunning scenery we are so lucky to call home.
